Anyone have experience with this charging board? It's small and cheap. Quant 10 for $2.98
Has anyone tried it?

That's what I use in my builds and I already mentioned this in another thread too.

As above. I used this recently but you'll need to replace the resistor (122k ohm on left).
Works perfectly, however.
Nice little green 'charge completed' light, too.

Just be careful, there is no discharge protection on this board. Most good quality batteries have that built into a little PCB on the top of the battery. There is a version of this board with protection

That being said, your screen and pi will stop working long before the battery will get dangerously flat, but you will be protected if the pi is left connected accidentally (switched on in a bag or something)

I actually went for the protection modules ones but good callout.
Still cheap as chips

Why would you need to change the resistor? That's the right value for 500mAh charge rate of the chip.

As far as I was aware and also in line with what you posted below the charge amperage is too high for a 1200mah lipo, close to 1000mah. Replacing the resistor with a 2k one brings it closer to 500mah.

Hey if I misunderstood my bad but I changed mine to a 2k resistor.

You're right I was thinking of a larger battery I'm testing in a build.

I see on the comments section of DX.com for the protected device someone said the charging current is more like 500ma. So you both could be right!
The max current listed in the specs might be a marketing, not engineering, measurement.

I can always test it when I get some time to be sure.
