Using a 2.2" TFT

Post by yogurtcup » Thu Feb 15, 2018 4:58 pm

Could somebody give me pointers on how to strip of the SD Card slot on the 2.2" screen?
And, for the premade OS, what is there to configure so that it workable with said screen?
Thanks

1. fairly hot soldering iron
2. desoldering pump (spring loaded one should be fine)
3. desoldering braid/wick
4. flux

if you want to keep the slot intact:
heat up each contact point and use the pump to suck away as much solder as possible.
then use the braid and flux to mop up any remaining solder from the joints (put the braid between the soldering iron tip and the joint after it's been soaked in flux)

once you have removed as much solder as possible, try and lift each pin in turn using your iron and tweezers/fine tipped pliers
repeat until it's off

if you son't care about the socket:
use flush cutters on each pin/contact point and simply cut it off.
optionally clean up using the steps mentioned in the first part, However:
Make sure there are no stray bits touching each other that could end up shorting something critical out

as for the OS, as long as your 2.2 screen is an ILI9341 then it should just work with the standard minty pi image
