Pi Zero low power mode

I just finished up a MintyPi build, and the one thing I really miss that most real portable systems have is some kind of suspend or hibernate mode. Is there anything similar on the Pi Zero? Some googling has told me that there really isn't a good solution for this, but I have read that there is a low power mode. Would there be a way to toggle this via the script built into the MintyPi prebuilt image? I find myself setting it down a lot when I get busy, and idling runs the battery down more often than gameplay for me.

Believe me we all wish this was possible but it isn't built into any of the Pi's. If you found any info about such a setting or option post it here so we can look into it but as I said and you've read it doesn't have this option.

I'm researching it. It looks like there's hardware solutions, but they're too big for the MintyPi and cost several times more than a Pi Zero. I wonder if it's possible to underclock on the fly.
