Battery

Since it would be nigh impossible to get the battery designed by Helder in the EU, I was hoping people could help me find a good alternative battery for the mintypi.

I know the Samsung s3 mini battery will fit, but I am hoping for a bit more capacity.

I think Helder will be sending some over to a UK distributor if demand is great enough

Hey, I have been wondering this too, and asked Helder about it, and here is his response:

I hope it helps, I am also still searching for a good battery... Good luck, and if I find something, I will try to let you know. :D

Hey, I think I have it! The battery of a HTC Evo 3D would fit pretty nice... 2.02" L x 2.01" W x 0.218" H (51 mm x 51 mm x 5,5 mm) The reason I came to this battery is because I saw a post from Helder, testing his battery tester, and saw a battery from a HTC Evo 3D connected to it. So I did some research and found the dimensions! Also, it has 4 terminals, which is necessary.

PS: real dimensions can be a little bit off, but I can almost guarantee that it would fit. For instance, the battery will actually be a little bit thinner, so under the 5.5 mm

Nice, I can test it later as I have a box of them.

Important question!

I think that it's like the "Huawei battery" shown above, because Helder said:

The alternate battery I can recommend (because I have some here and they fit fine width wise) is the HTC EVO 3D batteries.
With the HTC EVO 3D battery the first terminal is +, the fourth is -...
I have done some research, and I found some other batteries which would fit better:

They all have 4 terminals. (1-3) means the first terminal is +, third is - (like the "Samsung battery" shown above). (1-4) means the first terminal is +, fourth is - (like the "Huawei battery" shown above). <- Means that battery would fit the best of that kind of terminal option.

Code: Select all

                                       Length Width Thickness
Samsung EB-L1H2LLU (1-3) 58,1mm x 50,3mm x 5,7mm
Samsung sm-g361 (1-3) 56,6mm x 50,9mm x 5,3mm
LG ms 870 (1-3) 57,8mm x 51,1mm x 5,1mm <-
Samsung galaxy core max (1-3) 56,1mm x 50,5mm x 5,6mm
Huawei cs-huy300xl (1-4) 58,3mm x 51,0mm x 5,2mm <-
Alcatel tli015a1 (1-4) 51,8mm x 50,8mm x 5,4mm
PS, some names are directly the product code of the batteries, not the phone type...
In the case that I was right about the HTC EVO 3D battery, the Huawei CS-HUY300XL would be the best option. (1750 mAh claimed)

Otherwise the LG MS 870 battery (the non-extended ones) is what you have to get. (1800 mAh claimed)

I hope that this helps out a lot of you guys, so all of my research was not for nothing... :D Good luck!

Remember that these need to likely have a spacer to fit in the mintyPi since they are shorter than the mintyPi batteries and the first pin is + and the 4th is - .

If anyone has these and wants me to test the true capacity send them to me and I can post the true capacity but the HTC EVO 3D is around 1400mAh if you go that route.

I think in that case I'm going for the Huawei CS-HUY300XL. These dimensions are 58,3mm × 51,0mm × 5,2mm, so I guess that there are no spacers needed for this battery, or the cutout is actually bigger than 58mm... Anyways really thanks for replying me so fast!

I think I might have a few not put up on the site but those for the preorder are gone sorry. I plan to have a run of batteries available for European countries soon though.
