L/R Trigger Mods/Upgrades?

Post by CasualCheetah » Mon Jan 06, 2020 3:13 pm

Hey Forums,

The soft silicone face buttons for the mintyPi have been great so far, but the LR triggers have been problematic. They tend to wiggle around and fall out of the tin when placed in backpacks/pockets (Precut tin, but could still be related to poor assembly).

Nonetheless, I thought about 3D printing some little tabs using PLA (slightly flexible) that would have a small hole in them to press and lift something conductive onto the PCB button contacts. My first thought was to use a paperclip with bent end since it's small enough to fit through and rigid. Unfortunately, simply poking a conductive wire onto the PCB button contacts isn't enough.
You can see images of the design here https://imgur.com/a/4FzOtDt

Any thoughts on materials/designs that could cooperate with the button pads or other potential trigger mods that are out there?

-Cheers

These work great: https://www.adafruit.com/product/3101

They stick perfectly out of the tin. You'll just need to glue them down and run wire to the L and R pads on the power board PCB.

You could also try something like this https://smile.amazon.com/ButtonWorx-Rem ... 993&sr=8-1 with the button PCB and a 3d printed button.
