Minty Pi button sizes
Hi all,
I have started my minty pi build, first build ever, and i got to the point where i have the PI soldered to the button pcb, boots up with sound and the buttons work. I bought the buttons for the build from the market here and i noticed the fitment is not great. They are very loose in the face plate and end up spinning around. Has anyone run into this during their builds?

Re: Minty Pi button sizes
The plate has insets into which the buttons slot. They shouldn't be able to spin. Either the buttons are missing the prong that slots with the faceplate or the faceplate is damaged. Can you post pictures so we can see the issue better?

Re: Minty Pi button sizes
Yeah ill take some picture when i get home today. The buttons are not missing the prongs, they do not spin a lot until i press them even a little bit. Looks to me like there is excess clearance between the side of the buttons and the faceplate itself, I did not have to widen those holes at all. Also - the start + select button caps are very loose when installed, they just flop around. Ill take pictures but i think maybe my 3d print is not right.

Re: Minty Pi button sizes
yeah, could be a 3d print issue. When the PCB is screwed to the 3d parts, there should not be enough clearance to actually have the buttons go down far enough to spin. If that makes sense? Make sure that the pi/pcb is screwed down flush. Did you print the parts yourself? If so reprint and try some others maybe.

Re: Minty Pi button sizes
Sorry, the clearance between the buttons and face plate is on the sides - like the buttons are way to small for the holes (they operate smoothly and respond fine, but will end up spinning upside down). Everything is flush when screwed down. Yeah, i printed myself, all the other prints lock/screw together with no tolerances issues.
Ill get some up close pictures of the problem, but it is sounding like maybe my print is to blame - maybe my wall thickness is too thin? I am new to 3d printing

Re: Minty Pi button sizes
yeah, pics will help for sure, i'm now confused, the buttons flip upside down?
If you printed yourself I may lean towards an issue with the print then.

Sorry, i mean they rotate not flip. Here are the pictures, it looks to me like maybe my wall thickness is to thin.

Re: Minty Pi button sizes
Alrighty, quick update. I printed this one again but with a higher wall thickness, buttons fit much much better and the print came out much nicer. Getting this printer dialed in now:)
Thanks for looking all.

It looks like your prints aren't adhering to the bed surface properly for your first layer. Are your sure your nozzle is low enough?

Re: Minty Pi button sizes
Hi Diesel,
All my other prints came out perfect, but this one gave me a few issues. On top of adjusting my wall thickness, i slowed the printer down and increased the bed temp. Came out much better and everything is fitting great. I'm using the Monoprice Mini and bed leveling can be a pain to get right
