When having issues with USB it's usually 2 things, one is the pad being grounded like you have and the other is the D- and D+ being swapped (shit it happened to me) but glad you got it going and stay away from that 60/40 solder.

Percentage-wise that's not much of a difference though... or is it? I'm using the Circuit-Test rosin core solder.. I'm also using some liquid rosin flux.

It melts at a lower temperature than 60/40 and it flows better.

Looks shinier too and just flows nicer, you can actually see when it's melted as opposed to the 60/40 which never looks like it's truly liquid.
