Retropie image v2 versus v3

Hey, I currently have the v2 image on my sd card and I was wondering if I should reburn the v3 image instead. It kinda seems like some people are having problems on the forum with booting and things if I'm reading them correctly. What's the difference between the two images? Should I reburn the image or leave it? Thanks.

from what I understand, the only difference is that v3 plays a startup sound with the custom splash screen. But again, I'm fairly new to this so don't quote me.

You don't need to reburn the SD card you can update all the scripts / feature's via SSH.
USB audio on splash for example can be done in a few seconds.
If you're adding safe shutdown board however you'll have to take it apart anyway

LITERALLY VERSION 3 ON MY MINTYPI DOESNT WORK AT ALL. IT JUST HAS RETROPIE. NO SPLASH SCREENS, NO GAMES WILL LAUNCH PROPERLY EITHER. ALL I GET IS A BLACK SCREEN. I'M ALMOST DONE WITH THE MINTYPI PLEASE HELP ME.

IF THE SCREEN AND SOUND CARD ARE WORKING THEN THAT MEANS EVERYTHING IS WORKING PROPERLY. WHAT GAMES EXACTLY AREN'T WORKING FOR YOU? IF YOU TRY TO LAUNCH A GAME BOY ADVANCE GAME WITHOUT A BIOS FILE, FOR EXAMPLE, IT WILL BOOT YOU BACK TO THE EMULATIONSTATION MENU IN STEAD OF LAUNCHING THE GAME.

DID YOU READ THE OTHER POSTS AND THREADS IN THIS SUBFORUM SAYING THE SAME EXACT THING AS YOU? SINCE READING IS HARD IT HAS TO DO WITH YOUR SOUNDCARD BEING ACTUALLY PLUGGED IN TO THE SYSTEM TO BOOT GAMES AND HAVE THE SPLASH SCREEN.
Now we can type normally since the ALL CAPS is annoying and you need to stop being lazy and read the posts from other people with the same problems and look at their solutions.
