V.2 mintyPi LCD Warning!

Hello all,

Wanted to share a very important warning with Helder's latest pre-soldered 2.4 IPS screen; do not touch the ribbon with your finger when power is applied. You will short out the screen If your finger or a metal object comes in contact with the fingers on the ribbon.

This is easily avoidable if you place a piece of kapton tape over the ribbon.

This all may sound obvious, but I wanted to give the screen one last test before I snapped the 3d printed parts down. With the lower half of the shell screwed down, I held the screen in my hand so I wouldn't have tension on the ribbon. When my finger accidently touched the ribbon, on the back of the LCD board, all of the colors went crazy like the LCD panel busted. Thankfully, everything was fine with a reboot.

I've circled the area that you shouldn't touch.

It would but you're better off with kapton. Electrical tape tends to not stick as great over time and it's thicker.

When testing it's a good rule but once the lcd is in the bezel with the back piece of the bezel those pins are covered so not really needed once it's in the tin and bezel, but if you want to be safe then it's a good idea to cover them.
