[SOLVED] On-screen battery won't display

Post by Dividion » Thu Aug 16, 2018 7:06 pm

Hi all,

I set up the Mintybatterymonitor on my GBZ running 4.3 no problem. Wired a button to the GPIO and set it so when_held for 2 seconds it shuts down, and when_released (short press) it toggles the on-screen battery.

I just installed the battery monitor on a new device running 4.4, and it wasn't nearly as smooth. It said a bunch of packages were already installed (which should've been fine), even threw up some red text (fresh 4.4 btw, except for retrogame) but it still went ahead and added the line to rc.local and such. I set up a button the same way. When I hold the button, it shuts down, as expected. When I single-press the button, I can see it's toggling the state in the Toggle.txt file, but the battery never shows up on screen.

Is it not compatible with 4.4? Or are there different installation instructions? I used the commands from here:
https://github.com/HoolyHoo/Mintybatter ... /README.md

Thanks!

Try compiling the latest version of PNGVIEW at https://github.com/AndrewFromMelbourne/ ... er/pngview and try it with 4.4.

Manually running the pngview program I could get it to display, so I started running back through the MintyInstall.sh commands manually.

Looks like the following command is what failed: sudo pip install adafruit-ads1x15

So it wasn't seeing the ADS1015 correctly. After I re-ran that command, it started working.
