MintyPi V3 Half Dead Screen

Post by KillFace » Thu May 09, 2019 4:45 pm

I was in the home stretch when I tripped and fell face first into this issue. Everything was coming together nicely until I connected my board (w/ soldered pi attached) to the battery and charging board. Upon connections I was greeted with a nasty image on the screen, the top half was lines and the bottom half was fine. The screen worked perfectly when plugged into the wall before attaching the battery, but even now after unplugging the battery and using wall power the image is no good. I am attaching pictures of the problem as well as pictures of my soldering (successfully tested continuity many times). Any thoughts?

Looks like it might be a bad LCD cable, try to put a little pressure (emphasis on little) on the black part near the bottom where there is the yellow ribbon folded there. Run your finger slowly across the black area to see if it improves the image then post back.

No such luck. After gently moving my finger back and forth across the black section at the bottom of the screen there were no changes.

Ok then send it back and I'll replace it but package it well so it doesn't arrive cracked.

Will do. Would I be correct in assuming that I can ship it to the return address on the package you sent?

Yes use that address also include your name and info on the screen so I know who it's from.

I am having a similar issue, the screen worked well during the earlier stages of assembly (testing while following wermys video). Now during the home stretch the screen image is all screwy. Any help would be greatly appreciated

If it was working fine then I can only assume you dropped it at some point or something else happened to make it be like it shows in the image.
