I was wondering if I need to solder because I don't want to solder everything.

DFTBA,

Soldering is a required skill for this project if you want to do it yourself. It's not terribly difficult but can be hard for a first timer. If you do want to attempt the soldering, I highly recommend getting a couple of practice boards and using those before attempting to solder anything together on a kit: viewtopic.php?f=34&t=4530

Both Will and I also offer a soldering service where you can send it to one of us and we will solder everything and text it for you so you can do the final assembly.

that's not what I meant. I wonder if there are unused pins.

I don't follow. Do you mean if there are unused GPIO pins from the pi?

Only 2 pins are unused and if you follow the test point picture you could have figured out how many. Even if only 1 GND pin for example is shown on the test point image it's a good idea to solder them all so you have a better chance of GND being solid.
