which is the ground pad on these? or does it not matter?

a switch is just an open/close device. from the pics each button has its own separate PCB so there is no "common" ground. so ground is actually whichever one is easiest for you to wire up

These brackets are awesome! I have one installed on my first build. Very clean design, my preferred trigger setup.
