That sums up it perfectly!ZahcStarKiller wrote: ↑Sat Mar 03, 2018 5:37 pmOne comes with 3D parts for use with original gameboy buttons (DMG), the other comes with 3D parts for use with the 12mm extruded buttons. The PCB’s and soft switches are the same in each kit, meaning if you got one and changed your mind on the specific type of buttons caps you want to use, it’s as simple as having HoolyHoo send you a couple of 3D printed pieces.
If I understand correctly, those 3D printed pieces are just to close the hole on the bottom of the button caps so the soft tactile switch underneath can be pressed. Just two different types of hole plugs. That’s the only difference.
Please feel free to correct me if anything I said is inaccurate, HoolyHoo.

But bear in mind one other caveat: going from 12mm buttons to DMGs would leave a slight gap around the now smaller buttons. Similarly, going from the smaller DMGs to 12mm would necessitate redrilling slightly larger holes.

For sure this would require proper planning before drilling the holes

For sure. For the cleanest looking results, make your choice and make peace with it
Myself, I'm still hoping someone designs something that allows buttons on the side of the case. Seems more natural to me. (Looks at YaYa).
But I have some time to make my decision. And not to take anything away from your design, HoolyHoo. It is awesome like all your work.

That's the beauty of this forum, so many options. Everyone can build their GB how they envision it to be perfect. There is no right or wrong answer.djascher wrote: ↑Sun Mar 04, 2018 11:35 amFor sure. For the cleanest looking results, make your choice and make peace with it

Hoolyhoo,
How does the alignment for this bracket's buttons compare to the bracket erik_gee is offering? I've previously used his for L1 and R1, but I'm tempted to try switching to yours. Would the holes line up, or do I need to try something different? Like get a second one of his brackets?

I really can’t say because I don’t have one of his brackets or know the placement that he used for his holes. They do look pretty similar and you do have a bit of tolerance with my PCB since I don’t use wells with mine but that being said, I cannot say 100% if it would work with your existing holes unless I knew the measurements he used.cnobles wrote: ↑Wed Mar 14, 2018 8:52 pmHoolyhoo,

I can say this to you. I have already make the holes for eriks bracket and i hoped that Hollyhoos bracket will have the same alignment. But eriks bracket holes are in a lower place and hoolyhoos are bit more up. I can post later a pic.cnobles wrote: ↑Wed Mar 14, 2018 8:52 pmHoolyhoo,

EDIT: here the pics....maybe it works

Re: [FOR-SALE] Universal Button L1, L2, R1, R2 Back Button PCB and Silicone Buttons (OPEN)
Hey,
This product is awesome and allowed me to add L2/R2 in a sensible way to my Circuit Sword build.
As a note for anyone else using the Circuit Sword with the included heatsink, this backboard and the heatsink on the CM3 come in contact on my build when the shells are closed up so I would assume the same is true for anyone else making similar builds.
When I initially installed the backboard and fired it up to test I was noticing L1 only worked. After investigating, I found the other 3 buttons also worked when the system was opened but as soon as I closed it up, L1 only worked. I found out the solder point through-holes along the top of the backboard were right inline with the fins of the heatsink on the CM3 and were causing shorts. I simply covered that portion with electrical tape (kapton tape may be more necessary since it is in contact with the heatsink) and all four back buttons were functional when my build was closed up.
Just an FYI for anyone else who may experience shorting issues, there's a simple and quick fix.
