Helder might have a different setup in mind or recommend....

but for me his RetoPSU is best suited with this....
(In a Game Boy Zero type build)

Raspberry Pi: RPi 3A+ would be the best option becasue of the size and how it performs, but a RPi 3B+ or a RPi0W will also do

Screen: any will do... but a SPI screen running JUJ drivers is not a bad screen to use at the moment because of the low power draw, but a composite will be fine or if you can fit a HDMI that will work too (the RetroPSU can handle the power draw)...

Board/PCB: personally I would recommend a basic common ground PCB (or one that has sound built in), this will allow you to use all the other functions (turn functions on/off) that the RetroPSU offers and you can still add a Analog stick....
(The main controls need to be run off the GPIO)

and I personally haven't tried it yet, but (a big but) you might be able to pair his RetroPSU with Camble Safe Shutdown BG edition (if you can source one)....
but this is untested and may need some fiddling around maybe (turning off the low battery indicator on the Safe Shutdown)

.

Hi Helder,
I already built my WiiU gamepad console with RP3 (based on Banjo Kazooie’s one), and I’m planning to buy one of you wonderful product to replace my Powerboost 1000 Basic + TP4056 (with battery protection), but I have a few noob questions about it…

1 - Hardware
Here is the components I want to use. Is it ok ?
- Retro PSU
- 1 Panasonic 18650 (3400 mAh)
- Battery Protection
https://www.ebay.fr/itm/1-cell-Lithium- ... HtAp7Y654Q
- Powerful USB charger to be able to play during charge of the battery
Is 3A enough (RPI3 + HDMI screen + amp + battery charge), or should I try to find a more powerful one ?
Because I didn’t find any bigger with micro USB, except for US (I’m french)...
I usually use this one :https://www.amazon.fr/Aukru-Chargeur-Ad ... way&sr=8-1

2 - Software
On the software side, I’m mainly interested in the "safe shutdown" and "battery indicator on screen" (my analog controls are already managed by the teensyduino), but I’d like to continue using Recalbox, not RetroPie. Do you think it’s possible ?
I didn’t understand if the program used for the RetroPsu functionalities was linked to Retropie or Raspbian… Or if there could be some conflicts with another OS.
Because Recalbox is a complete OS « from scratch », not Raspbian based.

Thanks for your answers, and your work !

Can't answer that since I don't use Recallbox you'll have to try it yourself and let us know.

Thank you for your answer !
As soon I receive the RetroPSU, I'll try it and come back...

But you should try Recalbox ! This OS improved a lot, and the best for me in term of optimization and user experience...

I'll have a look at it in the future for some other things I'm working on.
