[Gauging Interest] DIY Safe Shutdown Kit (for PowerBoost)

Post by Camble » Thu Dec 22, 2016 8:44 am

I thought I'd just gauge how much interest there would be for a through-hole version of my new Safe Shutdown switch. The fully assembled version is nearly ready, so this won't be a quicker way to get hold of one. I just thought some people might like a different approach.

Update 23rd December 2016: Thanks for the replies, everyone. I just wanted to make sure it was worth getting these made, as I already had to throw away the first batch due to a very silly mistake on my part.

I should have these, and the assembled version, available very soon after the new year.

Included in the kit will be:
  • 1x PCB
  • 1x DPDT Switch
  • 5x Resistors
  • 1x Diode
  • 2x To-92 Transistors
The cost will be significantly lower than an assembled PCB, probably about a third of the cost.

Here's some pics!

I think most people will be interested if you post a video guide with the order page.

will you also make a BangGood Edition?
Is it bigger than the pre-assembled PCB?
And can you name an estimated price? (I don't find any price in your other thread)

The BangGood edition might be difficult to design without surface mount components.
The DIY version is slightly longer than the pre-assembled PCB, to accommodate a bank of resistors.
The price will probably be £6.
