It's cheaper than getting a broken Game Boy, and you wouldn't have to ruin it along the way. Has anyone tried using one of these?

Looks like it will probably work for you. You want to make sure that you get the buttons, gummy bads (silicone pads) and screws. It might be missing the gummy pads, it doesn't explicitly say that it has that. I bought from amazon from a seller called "NB Games" and have good luck with two of two from them. A little more expensive though by a couple of bucks. Most of them work fine.

Oh, and real petty nit-picking. These are non-OEM cases. OEM stands for "Original Equipment Manufacturer", meaning that the only possibly person who can sell OEM parts are the original maker. In this case, the only oem shells are sold (or as far as I know, not sold) directly by Nintendo.

These are replicas, but are same specifications as the oem parts.
(I know you probably know this, and only put oem because that is what the seller has in the description, but we deal with a lot of really new noobs that don't know the difference).

I bought an extra black one from a Chinese seller on eBay. Good quality overall but maybe a little less quality than the original. I would still recommend it.

my whole build was made from one of these, heres some things to consider. it doesn't come with the gummy pads and power switch is black not grey, orginal one was grey. no volume wheel or contrast wheel. I used this volume wheel http://www.ebay.com/itm/Volume-Sound-Sp ... SwYmZXG1~P

cons the volume wheel is not as big as the orginal, which i can not find a original volume wheel from another seller, if you never owned one i would check out a review of the dmg on youtube to see the volume wheel. because the volume wheels that people sell are more small. same size as the gameboy color. and it is a noticeable difference. secondly buying gummy pads can be a hit or miss i bought these http://www.ebay.com/itm/Volume-Sound-Sp ... every thing was good besides the d pad. That was a horrible feel to the point i needed to use a snes gummy pad for it and cut around it to fit it. im not saying dont do it that way but there are some things like that to consider.

either way i would still buy the snes controller for extra buttons. but still doesnt have the exact feel, but good enough probably 8/10 of the feel using the snes d pad gummy.

If i had to go back id go here and buy them, http://store.kitsch-bent.com/product/silicone-buttons. I bought things from this store for a while now so id up there silicone buttons are top notch. because everything else i bought was.

I have one of these cases. Here is what I have noticed.

1. The plastic is not as heavy as the original DMG case.
2. There is a slight difference in color.
3. The texture of the paint on the original DMG case is different. The original DMG case has a slight grip to the plastic. This case is smoother to the touch.
4. The font is a little off from the original one, but unless you look at them side by side, you cannot tell.
5. No stickers on the back.
6. The plastic is easier to chip once you start modify it so you really need to be careful because it is easier to make a mistake.
7. The power switch is black, on the original DMG case it is dark gray.
8. The cartridge slot is a little smaller than the original DMG case making it tougher for a PI2 to fit unless you mod it a little differently (but if you are using a PiZero, this is not a problem)

Other than those points, if you are find with them, then it is a good case. I actually am using one.

The plastic is not as good as the original. I've had screw posts break on me after screwing in my button boards.

They do (or should) come with silicone pads. At least mine did. You still need extras, although the original d-pad silicone pad performed better than the replacements.

I ordered a replica from aliexpress.
Haven't received it yet.

Problem is (found out after i ordered) they are shipped in random rolor (gray, black or yellow, i hope i get the gray one)

Yep I'm using one too. Make sure you get the gummy pads! And note some are shipped from China, so you might want to look for a seller located in your region (if you're not in or near China)
