GBA Zero parts

Post by douchekebab » Wed Jul 27, 2016 2:05 am

I have been planning on my gba zero for awhile and would like some help deciding on some parts. I am building one from scratch so I would like all the advice I can get on the more important parts. First and foremost would be the controls pcb. I am looking for the most convenient and space saving pcb for a bigger battery and of course, less hassle  .

Would this http://store.kitsch-bent.com/product/co ... -y-version or one of @helder's custom boards be more suitable? To my understanding using the AIO v1.4 would cease the need for a micro controller and I would only require a potentiometer, jack, and speaker for my audio needs. Same goes with the blue pcb except I would require a microcontroller (Arduino Leonardo or Teensy?)

Initially this was what I was hoping to use for sound. http://www.banggood.com/5V-USB-Powered- ... 37201311DI. But looking at the control board options I am fairly certain I don't need to go down this way, nevertheless I'm keeping my options open.

The most vital part in this project. The power supply. Should I just go with a powerboost 1000 since its the most orthodox with it being used in many guides such as the graceful shutdown. Or would this much cheaper option suffice http://www.banggood.com/37V-Liion-Batte ... 28948.html.

Also planning on a minimum of 2500mAh and a maximum of 4000mAh for my batteries.

Really hoping I could get some help soon as I'm really excited on beginning on this project. Thanks!

The alternative power supply lacks a low battery indicator and an enable feature, which makes using the all of the features of the graceful shutdown mod pretty challenging (though maybe not totally impossible -- you'd need to be smarter than me to pull it off).
