Issues With Screen
Issues With Screen
So, I'm trying to put my screen together. I haven't done the 12v to 5v conversion just yet as I wanted to see if it worked first.
In the picture below you'll see I'm using a pi zero v 1.3. I have the yellow wire connected to TV, the white wire connected to the one next to that. The red wire is on PP1 and the black is on PP6.
When I plug it in to test it, the screen's board starts smoking from the power wire. Is it because I haven't done the conversion or did I wire the power wrong?

Re: Issues With Screen
Remove all your wires from the pi zero and start again. Make sure the exposed parts of the wire are very short (just long enough to poke through the holes) otherwise they could short out. Connect the yellow wire to the tv pin and the black wire to the ground pin right next to it. Connect the red to the power pad on the pi (pp1 i think?) Leave the white wire not connected (this should be ur av2).
If the screen board has already smoked theres a chance its fried. Although you may get lucky and have it still work. Best of luck!

Re: Issues With Screen
your wire might be switched. Looking at your picture, You said white is TV but its connected into ground while the yellow is in TV. Double check that AV is going in to the square shaped TV pin.

So you're saying that I should have it configured like the image below instead?Rewired44 wrote:Remove all your wires from the pi zero and start again. Edited the original post to fix errors. Yellow is going to TV and white is ground in the original photo.grapes8 wrote:your wire might be switched. Re: Issues With Screen
Yes the above image is correct for testing the screen with a power cable powering the pi zero. When you install it into your gameboy solder the red wire from the screen to your powerstrip instead of the pi zero. You could also solder the black wire from the screen to the negative side of the power strip but this may cause interference so its better to leave it next to the tv pin.

No dice. Still smoking. Here are some more pictures of what I'm working with.Rewired44 wrote:Yes the above image is correct for testing the screen with a power cable powering the pi zero. Also, if it helps, it's the red wire on the screen board that is the one that smokes.

Re: Issues With Screen
I have the exactely same screen. I tried to test it yesterday evening: works, but I have terrible screen shake. I have no idea why.
I change the config file to 320x240, same trouble.
I found a post (http://www.sudomod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=958) who describe how to test your screen.
However, the red wire is not plug where you put it.
But anyway, the PCB bord is too wide for the DMG sheel even if you cut some part on (close to the 3 buttons).

Re: Issues With Screen
The square shaped pad is the pi's one av port, the round pad next to is is ground.jellybelly wrote:why is the black cable going to one of the AV points not to gnd?
You guys should really be doing some basic reading on this thing before blindly taking a soldering iron to it...
