I'm trying to wire up USB sound, but having trouble deciphering what wires go where. I'm running the 5v, G, D-, and D+ to the USB breakout but having trouble on the other side. Do i wire up channel L and common to an amplifier then to the speaker/headphone jack? Or do I go without an amplifier. I'm using the Adafruit Mono 2.5W class D Amp.
In my head, I would run the D+,D-,5v, and ground to the USB breakout (since it's desoldered) then the output side to the headphone jack/speaker.

Re: USB sound question
It's a cheap one I got from Radioshack, so I'm not 100% sure either. I guess i need to analyze the schematic and board to determine the amount of gain if there is an amplifier, correct?

Re: USB sound question
Hi there! I am not sure about this. But you can connect your headphones directly to the speaker also. I am not having the perfect idea about the USB. My friend once tried his headphones with USB but failed to attempt. You can also check more information on internet.
Re: USB sound question
I am pretty sure the USB is not an amplifier. The wiring should be as such. USB DAC/Sound card -> Headphone Jack --(un-jacked)--> Amp ---> Speaker. amp should have a pot. If you want pot to control headset then amp should be directly after Soundcard

Re: USB sound question
This is correct and any sound card with headphones out is usually unamplified but works fine for headphones. A speaker needs amplification .Hex wrote:I am pretty sure the USB is not an amplifier.
