GBZ USB Charging Test

Post by PitchForkNinja » Thu Jul 06, 2017 8:17 pm

So I just finished soldering all of my power components (micro USB breakout, power switch, powerboost, and USB port), and I wanted to test if the USB Port worked (data pins are not connected anywhere). I plugged in my power source, it turned on, and I plugged in my iPhone charging cable to the USB port, but it didn't work. My guess is that it just wasn't enough power for a phone, but it might not. Anyone have any ideas?

Here is my wiring. If nothing is wrong, then maybe my USB port wiring shorted below the glue.

Looks correct but can't see the soldering to the USB port under the glue. Assume you have the wired the pins the correct way round? Also, the guage of the wire on the power switch is pretty thin. Personally I would use thicker wire.

Additionally, are you using an AIO board or USB hub etc?
I would usually power my USB port from the AIO or Hub directly as that will also need power. That's preference tough as you can use the additional 5v and Gnd on the powerboost to do that as needed.
