Fleder told me you can use the command "xrandr --current" to get the current screen size.
I don't even know how to solder ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I feel like a bit of a noob with this so if anyone could draw a quick diagram or something it would really help :) According to the wiki I have variant 7 of the BW screen so it should work on 5V unmodded. Thanks :D
Hi - Did you get this to work off 5V? Did you wire to PIN 2 in the regulator chip?

Thanks!

Hi guys :)

I got this screen
http://www.aliexpress.com/snapshot/7683 ... 3223925357

with this board. Doesn't work with 5V. Anybody have any idea how to get it working?

On the back there are no markings and no holes (except for those on the far end which look like places to solder 3 control buttons).

Update on the "640x480" screen.
I received mine today and there was a data/specification sheet in the box that stated the 3.5" version as 320x240.
I contacted the same seller i got a confirmation for the 640x480 resolution from.
Lets see what he has got to say about this.

It does run on 5v without any modification, though.

I bought the ATian from amazon.com in the screen alternatives wiki and I received this one. The pcb is huge... guess I got the wrong one.

I managed to get a BW v7 off Amazon (this one), the one that can work without any modification. I tested it with my N64, soldering the power to an old USB and using a 5v wall plug.

The issue I have is the screen is overly bright. I've turned all the contrast and brightness down, but its still ridiculous. Is there anything I should do about it or any options available to me?

Well, I either did not set up my 12v jumper up properly, or I am hosed

Here is my 12v Jumper from Pololu:

I cut both my red 5v wire and my ground going to my screen to my breakout board. I then solder the components like you see in the picture:
VOUT --> Red wire to screen
VIN --> Red wire to breakout board
Gound --> Black wire to GND solder point (the wires are solder together)

I get a LOW light on my PowerBoost and the screen never comes on.

There is a SHDN connection on the 12v jumper but I do not know what that means.

Any ideas popcorn or Fleder?

From the Pololu Website

The SHDN pin can be driven low (under 0.3 V) to turn off the output and put the board into a low-power state that typically draws 20 μA, and it can be driven high (above 2.3 V) to enable the board. If you do not need to use the shutdown feature, the SHDN pin can be directly connected to VIN to permanently enable the board. You should not leave this pin disconnected as this can result in unpredictable behavior.

Not really sure what that means. I can try to solder VIN and SHDN together with the same piece of solder. Correct?

I guess. I think the SHDN pin is for shutting down the outgoing pin if no Vollage is applied. But you are using the PowerBoost for shuting down everything. Right? So connecting SHDN and VIN should bridge that.
