It's a shame you can't get a bunch of red pixels under the battery indicator to make it look lit

Haha, I totally thought about that too. It would make it so much easier. I'm thinking the gap I'm leaving between the screen and case will be enough to wire a 3mm led or something. We'll see how that turns out.

Well with some careful soldering, you could add a surface mount led to the end of some wires

Can't you use a 2.2 or 2.4 inch screen for this? The over scan is a waste of the screen size.

I'm sure they would still work for most people. It took me a long time to settle on the 2.8. I was constantly remeasuring the opening and the sizes of the different screens. According to the measurements the smaller screens would have left some of the metal case and thin black portions of the screen showing. I didn't personally confirm that, I just went off measurements. I'm glad I went 2.8 though because the height just barely overlapped the opening so now the screen looks like it was made for it.
