For the 6 buttons layout you can go with Kite’s SAIO and Hoolyhoos bracket ;)

This will gives you the almost perfect build.

You can check my signature for some details on using SAIO (4 buttons layout) but the principe is the same
The main thing is i often couldn't get it time to grab the next AIO. Even when I sign up for the waiting list, when i wake up, its sold out  And also I do get a feel like AIO is bringing the challenge away from making. I am one of those cheapo dudes, who get a sense of achievement when I manage to find some other ways to make similar. (even if i suffer and curse while doing it  )

Anw these things is my ongoing quest to learn about electronics too. I'm an artist so... this is really stepping out of my comfort zone. Haven't touched a dremel before before this and I just knew soldering last year. So for building these GBs, I'm looking it from a point of my own personal training and just plainly understanding what part does what, how to test, how to fail. I mean for you guys its really the aesthetic and the hard core feel of the GBs and I digg that, I've been learning a lot from you guys too. Wermy, Verteran, Cannikin, Helder, and you Yaya very much appreciated.

As for the screws, I bought another GB and i'm opening up to check how he did the screws.

If i can do that, i think it would be much preferable.

those screws look clean.... i think they have most prbably used the same method as 1UP but used a flat head screws (as opposed to the round heads in the 1UP kit)....

i'm surprised no one has brought out a 6 button common ground pcb

you can wire to gpio
or if used a micro controller which will also allow you to add an analog stick (which would be better than the 1UP setup)

Actually erik_gee is working on a 6 button common ground pcb. I remember he showed it in the retropie handheld group on fb. But I also remember him mentioning some issues with it.

actually.... there still isnt a 6 button coomon ground availble (working on it or not working on it.... still not available)

IMHO i really cant see why there would be issues with a basic 6 button common ground....

if your thinking of adding a controller chip, then maybe....
but a 6 button variation of Helder shouldnt be a problem or have issues.....

the demand for it may not be the same as a A,B,X,Y 4 button common ground....
but adding 2 extra pads doesnt seem like a major issue (i appriciate you'd have to be creative with the traces)

Well, I didn't say there is one available. I said he is working on it.

His first prototypes seemed to have an issue, nothing major though..

thanks

i hear what your saying, and i understood what you stated.... but it didnt really add anything (if someones making it and having issues doesnt really do anything)

here now you can say i've got one in the works (weather it actually materialises is another thing)

i knocked this up in about 15min (and i appriciate its not the finished article by a long shot, i dont do pcb design)

NB: i've never designed a button pcb before, so dont start pointing out the mistakes, because i know they're there (unless you looking to help to bring this out for the community)

It could be great to put some shift up/down to the pads to maje some clearance for novice people at soldering so they won’t mess with shirts between pads. Not too much just 3 or 4 mm should be enough.
Like odd up and even down

Hey there! yeah i already have them made, the first batch had an issue with a via being misplaced onto a trace, so it permanently activated the A button. My mistake for not running a DRC. I made it from scratch without using helders file as I thought it would be a little more fun to make my own footprints and such, and because while he has the files available open source, and i did have a look at them for inspiration, I just would rather work on a new one from the ground up myself. I just feel more comfortable doing this way, as there have been numerous people copying helders designs and just straight reselling and such and its just a spit in the face to Helder who has provided so much work for our community, to have people just rip him off like that. Really grinds my gears

Anyways, the first batch came in and i noticed my mistake. The second updated batch has already been shipped and i should be receiving it within the next week or 2. Here is a picture of the 3d model.

the issue was a very silly mistake, almost feel embarrassed about not double checking before i sent out the files haha and im also working on 2 other boards, an AIO board and a Psuedo AIO board that will have features such as audio routing and battery monitor/low battery shutdown, but wont contain a micro controller and involves soldering a premade audio amp circuit to it. Thats why its a psuedo aio haha School is keeping me a bit busy though so making very slow progress on the last 2 boards

Hmmm we're getting a bit offtopic here, aren't we? Would be nice if this community edition thread was filled with information about the actual 1up build ^^
