I need help. Blurred screen :(

Post by jahel04 » Fri Mar 02, 2018 7:36 am

Hello, a few days ago I asked how to modify my screen to operate at 5v. I did what a guy answered me and it worked, but look at the pics below. The quality of the screen is really bad.

If I connect it to 12v without any modification the quality is pretty cool.

If I modify the screen and connect it to 5v the quality is horrible.

If I modify the screen and connect it to 3.3v the quality is acceptable, but not perfect

Any ideas? Thanks!

Has the composite connection changed at all from modification to modification? Usually, poor quality with composite video is because of poor connection quality.

No, it is the same. I just changed the power one.

It looks like you have it wired correctly according to what's in the wiki, have to tried it without bridging it? just have your vcc go directly to the chip, it might work? I would also try the other chips if you have a multi meter, maybe check if you can get 5v from other pins, anyways hope this helps you, keep us updated, thanks.

I tried the other chips and the best quality I can get is like the 3.3v pic. Is it possible to buy this (https://www.addicore.com/MT3608-Boost-C ... /ad300.htm) item and connect the screen directly to 12v?

Thanks for your help.

Can you try to use the other video pin (1st Pin from left to right) , maybe the current one is making contact with the ground somehow? can you take a pic of how you have it soldered into the pi, thanks. Now on the link you sent, I'm not familiar with that, hopefully someone here in the forums can answer that, sorry.

I will try to use a variable power supply and look for the voltage that provides the best screen quality. If this doesnt work, I will buy the item I told you above.

New updates. Using a variable power supply and supplying the screen with 5v works perfectly. But using the 5v provided by the pi zero, the quality is bad. So I think the problem is something related with grounds or maybe with the intensity, which is not enough.

I´ll keep trying new solutions. If I get something new I´ll post it here.

Thanks for your help and your time Thump52.
