Custom cartridge board question

Post by petran1420 » Thu Jun 16, 2016 1:31 pm

So I have a custom cartridge board with built in microSD that I purchased from prerunnerseth. I know this saves me a lot of time from the work in video 5, but I'm trying to confirm what exactly I still need to do.

Basically for the custom board, all I need to do is glue it into a blank cartridge shell and we're good to go? And also, I'm not sure which 'gold fingers' on the board are attached to which sd pins, because I didn't make it myself. How do I know which pins on the cartridge reader I should attach wires to? So many questions!! Any help would be appreciated :)

Yep, you just need a cartridge for it to go in. :)

As for which pins go to which SD card pins.... That could be a little difficult to tell actually. You can look and see where the traces go easy enough but with that cartridge reader on there it might be hard to tell which SD pin is which trace. Maybe @prerunnerseth could enlighten us?

No glue needed... The board mounts right in the cart just like the original board. You will just need to carefully notch the side of the cart to leave an opening for the sd card to be inserted. I have inserted the wiring diagram showing you where to solder the wires on the card edge connector to which pins on the Pi Zero. The picture shows the card edge connector still mounted in the original game boy board. This was done to make it more clear which pins are what. You will need to desolder the card edge connector from the Game boy board.
