Some general Cgbz Help please

Post by Millswest1 » Fri Jan 25, 2019 8:21 am

Hi All

So I have never buil a Gbz or anything however I have a broken Gameboy color a Raspberry pi zero w and a soldering iron. Looking through some of the tutorials here i believe i could achieve this, however connecting the hardware up seems simple but i know it doesnt just magically work. What else do i need to do to make it work together?

Sorry if its a silly question but im not good with software etc

Thank you in advance

Regards

There’s not much you can use internally from the gameboy unless you want to make heavy modifications like wermys original gbz. It would save a lot of work and just buy an aftermarket case plus Glichdgaming sells gbc button boards on the for sale forum.

You’ll then have to figure out which screen and audio solution you want to go with. How you want to wire controls. You’ll need more buttons/pads. That’s just a few off the top of my head.

All-in-all, there’s a reason there’s not many gbc here to be shown off. A dmg will be much more forgiving if you’ve never built one before.

Thank you for your reply i Thank building a dmg would be sensible.

Is there any programming or setting up that needs to be done?

Sorry for further question

Depends on the parts you use. Other than the retropie install you’ll have to configure controls and audio.
Just take your time and do your research on the forums and the wiki before you begin.
For a first build, just keep it simple.
