Sound and Wifi question

Post by poxbox3030 » Sun Jul 03, 2016 3:21 am

Hi all,

Two quick questions. Firstly with the sound. Is there any way to get the raspberry Pi to down mix stereo to the mono output? With the current mono wiring I am getting one channel (So hearing half the music/FX) but is it possible to mix the L & R sound to a single output for the mono amp/speaker?

Second, I have a wifi dongle installed. It is wired to the USB hub to get it closer to the external body of the GBZ. When I have the GBZ open and the adaptor sticking into the air it connects and does what it is supposed to do. Once I place it into the GBZ and close it up it stops functioning.

I hope the good folks here can assist me with my issues.

Thank you in Advance

P.S. I also dropped my GBZ and now have leaking LCD on my Adafruit screen so a second GBZ build maybe just around the corner for me

For the sound no need for weird configuration, just short the left and right wire on the input of your amplifier

Won't this still only give me the left channel as there's no right channel output from the Pi?
Or do you mean get stereo output from the Pi and connect the left and right wires at the amp?

That's it, you get an output that has both and you link them together

is the wifi dongle touching anything metal? or are some exposed wire tips touching, when you close the case?

I will attempt the sound mod tonight and update with what happens.

As for the Wifi, I made sure to tape up all exposed wires and connections and have it on the opposite side of the bottom of the case to the speaker. Could it be the audio amp interfering with the wireless? I've also brought another dongle to see if that makes a difference.

Thanks to your help I now have stereo sound through the mono amp. Unfortunately now I have more interference than before. Is there any thing I can do to reduce the hiss and crackle? Maybe insulate the wires? I thought copper tape with an electrical tape covering?
