Isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol or medical alcohol) also chemically removes hot glue. It isn't too harsh on most electronic components, and evaporates incredibly quick. Use a wet q-tip and just make sure there is absolutely no power to the component until the alcohol dries.
