Have you increased the volume in software? Like in the Retropie menu and alsa mixer.

I have the same issue here. Fixed my volume wheel issue by soldering directly to the two resistors connected to the pads i messed up as per previous post.

Have the same speaker issue though, when turned down very very quiet it plays fine but increasing volume distorts and you get nothing / random pops of sound.

Have replaced R15 an R16 as per advice by @helder to no avail. This has however created cleaner audio in headphones and they can be turned up very loud but also works at a good volume.

Does R17 need replacing as that appears to be for speaker? 8-)

It doesn't hurt to do that resistor as well and it should be two resistors R17 and R18.

Thanks for confirming @helder

I have replaced R15, R16, R17 and R18 as per pic.

Hoping this is the right way to to the resistors but hasnt made it any worse.

Still no improvement however. Speaker plays fine very very quietly. As soon as it's turned it up hardly works but for occasional snipets of sound. Amp issues?

What else can i try? Headphones work ok but don't want to press on too far with build knowing the speaker is still playing up.

Volume is turned up in all 4 locations and have tidied up some wiring etc.

Cheers

Could be the amp but more likely the surrounding components, I'm not sure what the values of the components are around the amp except for the Resistors since it's posted on them. The factory could have messed up and used different values because all the other board revisions have been the same for the amp except the addition of some filtering caps as per the PAM8403 datasheet.

Thanks @Helder.

I'll keep plugging away for now. Seems a couple of others on this post have the issue so i'll see what they might come up with too.

Worst case if i cant get this working i could wire up a speaker using the adafruit amp and another headphone jack as per @Wermy revision1 GBZ??

Unless anyone has any other ideas?

Hi @helder

I notice from @rodocop build he has the AIO 2.2 aswell but his R,15, 16, 17 and 18 resistors look like they say '2000' as below.

Do you know what ohms these are? Possibly 200?

If so might be worth trying some at 200??

Cheers

They are 200 ohms but people complained that value of resistor made the volume lower.

Either option is a good idea to do but trying to keep the PWM wires and volume wheel wires away from everything or shielding them is the way to go.
That's probably about the limit of my knowledge. By any chance do you know if it's easy to make shielded cable or are there any places you could recommend to source some from please?

Sorry to hijack the thread guys.

Just wanted to know what speakers you guys are using. I tried the adafruit one but my issue is that the higher volume causes it cut out, I've tried the 3DS speakers but they have the same issue.

My next attempt is the GBA SP speaker.

Any input would be great as I can't seem to get a loud enough sound without the speaker cutting out :)
