If anyone's feeling super cautious about battery safety, LiFePo4 ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lithium_i ... te_battery ) are known to be one of the safest battery types. They're the battery type used in many electric cars for that reason. It's also common to see them used in power tools (for other reasons). Compare this...

(Charged LiFePo4 cell shot with a nail gun, smoke but no flames):

... with this ...

(LiPo battery hit with a nail, flames aplenty):

The above isn't exactly a like-for-like comparison, and to be honest you'll probably be fine with the more common Lithium battery chemistries if you're using a decent charging solution, but hopefully someone found this useful.

Hello..

Thanks for the insightful post!

I m wondering into options for overcharge protection available in india, would this work?
I'm planning to use a 4000mAh Lipo.

Newest rules on traveling with devices (like GBZs) with lithium ion batteries from the FAA.

https://www.faa.gov/hazmat/packsafe/mor ... ?hazmat=20

Only allowed as carryon, never in checked bags.

The batteries themselves are no more risky, more the way i plan on using them.
Normally when people use these batteries theyre all permanantly attached to eachother to create one cell. My batteries will all be loosely connected through the battery terminals inside the battery bay. Im absolutely certain it will work and hopefully achieve that retro feel too .
