Cleaner Screen Mount / Hello :)

Post by smoki86 » Sat Jul 30, 2016 8:01 am

Hello,

like many I just started my GBZ :)

I decided to not go by the guide and figure stuff out on the way. So the first thing to arrive was the screen (a cheap (15€) one from amazon, mentioned in the wiki).

I don't have a dremel right now, but some key files and that worked great (the corner look especially good because I could use a round one with the same radius).

To mount it I used 3M VHB tape which is also used to mount my phone display. It looks great, no dust can come in and there is no messy hot glue everywhere (removable too!). I want to avoid it altogether from now on and create custom mounts for all boards.

So if you want an alternative to hot glue on the display, VHB works great.

Is this tape strong enough to hold the screen well?

Seems to hold perfectly well.
I removed it once and I needed quite a lot of force in one corner, after that the rest came off easy.
It bonds really well with the plastic (smoothed it with sandpaper) and the metal from the display.

After removal I made thinner strips because it was quite hard to get off and you could also see the unused black tape on the sides.
