I'm looking for inspiration on how to do my L/R buttons.

I find the way Wermy does looks great but they dont seems particularly comfortable.

They looks really nice to the eye but they are really not practical. Even more if you use them oftenly (Savestate for example).
I think the big arcade-like button would be nice

I originally had the idea of cutting two sections of the ribbed part of the back shell out and mounting them as L and R buttons. They were to be flush with the shell so that they were barely noticeable, but I've since scrapped that idea as I can't work out how to make a cut thin enough that they don't look like crap afterwards!

I'll most likely go down the SNES shoulder buttons route, but I too would be interested to see how others are tackling this!

I really like the idea... I've got some damaged DMGs off ebay, I could use the backside of one of them to cut the buttons out and use them on a good one. I guess I have to try this out to know how it feels and if I really want to use that solution.

I glued a piece of printbord on the inside of the body, drilled the holes for the buttons and glued them to the bord. Than I just glued a short tacticle button on the button. So the buttons press on the tacticle switch which is connected to the teensy :)

I think it's the exact opposite. They don't look impressive or anything like the other L/R solutions, but they're definitely comfortable.

I did it wermys way and I don't like them. The tactile buttons need a lot of preassure to be pressed and I have to hold my indexfingers in a pretty uncomfortable way. In the next build I'm going to try normal buttons right next to the batter door latch.
