Here is this display (640x480) on eBay. I asked the seller for the dimensions of the screen inside the body. $21 US Dollars.

Isn't this about the same thing, minus the VGA port, etc?

Hmmm... that looks exactly like the Amazon one from Niceshopping...it might be the same 320x240 one. I saw a mention somewhere on the forums where there are lots of monitors that say 640x480 resolution but upon further inspection are really 320x240. It seems the real 640x480 ones all start around $100ish so it seems unlikely that that ebay one is really that good of a deal...but it could be worth a try for $20!

You are probably right. I just started looking around and even though they will say 640x480 in the title, the description will say (most of the time) 320x240. Bummer.

No, but assuming it doesn't include any additional info in the box, and I can't pick up any hints from the components on the board, I'll hook up my variable power supply at maybe 9v and cross my fingers! Most of these displays seem to range anywhere from 5V to 24V in their range of acceptable voltages so 9v seems like a safe-ish bet. It would be awesome if it worked out of the box at 5v but I picked up one of these in case the display requires more.
Kilren wrote:I'd be very interested in a side by side comparison with the adafruit display, and the $15 backup displays on amazon.
I've got one of those $15 displays coming from Amazon as well so I'll definitely do a side-by-side comparison once I get them both.

Holy cow that price! I wonder if there are any quantity requirements for that one?

If this board works it seems like it would be a no-brainer for use in the GBZ!

Actually that's just the driver board—it doesn't include the screen!

But great to know the voltage, thanks!

Yeah sorry its just the board. Seems to be the only ones available apart from the first one posted that does a higher resolution. So many on Ali that say 640 but they are not.

Here's some light bedside reading for you.

I found the spec sheet on that video screen

Not sure if this puts me to sleep or keeps me awake!

This does recommend that voltage be set at 9V, but 5V is definitely obtainable and is listed.
