Hello everyone, first time here and I am super intrigued by what everyone has been putting together. I love the ideas, and things I've seen but I wanted to gather some info while I had the chance.

First thing is, is that I will be putting together a DMG zero. I just recently snagged a RPI0 from adafruit for $5 since they seem to be out of stock everywhere else, or just really over priced.

So the plan is to do what you guys are doing, but I wanted to know what the minimum amount of parts and items I would need would be. I want a completely functioning gameboy, but with:

- The correct sized screen (dremel out the empty space)
- The abxy buttons
- Speaker, and volume control, a sort of all in one pcb that adds the amp for the speaker (if its out there) and that also controls the on/off switch,
- A nice screen protector.

Please let me know if you'd recommend anything else for this build if I haven't listed it above, I'm a noob.

I apologize in advance if this has already been brought up somewhere else on here. But I'm looking for the best parts that aren't ridiculously expensive. Any info or links are greatly appreciated!

First, check the Wiki. Almost all of your answers are there.

Instead of buying a dead Gameboy, you could consider getting a Gameboy DMG case, plus a headphone jack & power switch. A Gameboy DS or DSLite cartridge slot can be used in place of the slot from a dead Gameboy. You'll also need a potentiometer (volume knob).

Camble's graceful shutdown switch is something you'll want to consider that isn't really covered in the wiki. If you're looking to save money, you may want to wait a little while for Camble to have his version of this switch for the alternative Banggood Power Supply available. (The Banggood power supply is about $20 cheaper than the recommended Adafruit PS, but lacks a low battery monitor and all of the power cutoff features of the Adafruit version. Camble's upcoming solution sounds like it'll make the Banggood version a more suitable alternative.)

Some really nice screen protectors by dominator are available here. (Make sure you leave a lip to glue the protector onto when you dremel out the screen area).

Also, definitely check out the Buy/Sell forum. A lot of people have made their own PCBs that make a lot of the stuff covered in the wiki quite a bit easier. While you're there, I'd recommend at least picking up some 3D Printed button wells and a 3D printed screw bracket.

Awesome thanks for this info, I'll be checking it all out as soon as I get off of work. To bad it hasn't gotten to the point of just buying a completely wired board to plug the pie and screen into and then drop it into a dmg shell. I don't mind putting in the work, but the ease of access is always a plus now days.
