Be careful about removing the screen from the front panel, I've cracked the corner of mine! (fortunately it's invisible )

Piro wrote:Hi Guys

First post ever, Just wanting to share my screen info on what we can get in Australia via eBay

So the first monitor i purchased was this bad boy

it may be a bit more pricey than the others but no pulling it apart and I knew the approx size of the control board

1. no it doesn't run directly off 5VDC
2. Yes it has an IC (bottom left corner BM1410A)
3. Yes with the IC mod it works off 5VDC
4. no contrast buttons?

I didn't remove the step down converter just soldered on a jumper wire, looks like its working fine.

I have another screen in the post what I will update when it arrives
That looks just like the unit I ordered from GearBest, it hasn't arrived yet, but looking at the controller board it appears to be the same. Another user pointed out that the unit I ordered was 12V, an oversight on my end. Once I get mine, may I pick your brain or do you have any tutorials or instructions on getting it to work without the step down? I did take a year of Electronics in college but that was back in 2006, so I no longer trust my knowledge and want to make sure I don't mess this up as I've already been waiting over 3 weeks for it to ship (GearBest's free shipping is slower than molasses on a cold day - I was cheap and thus I will have to wait).

The Gearbest unit is this one: http://www.gearbest.com/development-boa ... 29447.html

I think you must do that http://s20.postimg.org/6jvbxrfml/mamo_board_2.jpg as @Fleder explained here http://sudomod.com/forum/viewtopic.php? ... t=20#p1165

I have to do the same :)

What about this one? It almost looks like the same board as from adafruit.

Still have to look if it could be modified to run of 5v instead of 12v.

Is there a way to know which regulator to get out?

I'm waiting for that one and hoping it can be modded easily.

Maybe someone could decode something from

Hi guys,

i ordered my 3.5 " display from [url]http://www.good-display.com/products_de ... 4.html[url].
It is available in 12V or 5V optional. The delivery to germany took 3 working days. But the delivery costs are very expensive.
I ordered without getting into contact with the customer support. So I received the 12V display.
After desoldering 2 diodes and 1 IC, it worked.
The yellow and white cable of this display must be soldered to the RPIO, in opposite to the places as shown in wermy´s tutorial.
Fleder gave me the clue to change the yellow and white cable. Thank you for that hint mate.
