Charging/Power Lights. How have you done them?

Has anyone done that? I've never worked with things that small before. Curious to see what it looks like when you solder a cable that thicker than the LED itself.SidSilver wrote: desolder the led, add 2 wires (be careful to keep the good polarity)

I have not done it myself but have been doing some research on this. Here is some information if your planning on trying:

Re: Charging/Power Lights. How have you done them?
Hello,
i stopped working on my Gameboy for quite a Long time but now i want to bring it to an end. I can't desolder the small low battery led so could i just connect a LED with a resistor between the LBO Pin and the Ground to light it up until the battery gets low?

Re: Charging/Power Lights. How have you done them?
I just soldered an LED onto the power & charge LED's (maybe I will do low battery once I fit my screen).
Left the surface mount LED's there and it still works. Using 1 original gameboy LED and 1 random green LED. They haven't burnt out or got hot, left it on overnight while charging to test.
The powerboost is still working 100%. I'm sure the original LEDs are still drawing some power but not enough to turn on and the attached ones work great.
I drilled 2 holes (planning the 3rd) on the right face, they are just above my right thumb on abxy.

That's what I did as well. But I wanted to extend the LED's so I could place them wherever I want but the solder wouldn't stick to the legs of the LEDs so I didn't continue with it...
Re: Charging/Power Lights. How have you done them?
I applied some extra solder to the ends of the existing LED's and extension wires, then I soldered. Worked like a charm.peoplesbeer wrote:That's what I did as well. Hm... Might give it a go again, I ended up ordering another board that BadBert posted, seems like that one could do the trick pretty well.
