Wire gauge recommendations?

Hello all,
In the videos wermy mentions that you can use 'thin' wire for most of the connections and 'slightly thicker' wire for anything dealing with power, but doesn't mention any specific gauges, or ranges of gauges. I'm wondering what your recommendations are for minimum gauge for power and non-power wiring.
I just finished my first build and starting to organize my second. One of my biggest problems is that I re-used a lot of weird wires of all different sizes because I was cheap, and the device became very hard to close. Looking to streamline this process. Thanks!

I am starting a build soon and searched for this just the other day.
I found this:

Im also having trouble closing my first build because of using any wire i could find. Be wary of ordering chinese wire from ebay. I orderd 26AWG ribbon cable and it wasnt very suitable due to low flexability and thick rubber outer sleeve

Just get the IDE Ribbon Connectors and cut those up. There are 80 strand and 40 strand ribbons and are super flexible and should be cheap as it's rarely used in today's PCs.

Great tip Helder, thanks! I think almost everyone has a old pc laying around.

IDE works well, but some of the newer 80 pin cables are as thin as 32AWG, so be sure to check first!

I'm wondering if anyone just has a straight recommendation based on their experience? Like, 'for wires dealing with a power source x - y range AWG is appropriate in this project, and for all other connections a - b range would be fine'

Uguu, now you got me slightly scared 'cause I got my
wires from eBay, 24AWG gauge for the wires that will connect battery, PowerBoost and power strip and gauge 28AWG to everything else. They seem to be flexible enough but I hope they're overall not crap.

I want to say I read somewhere on these forums that Ethernet cable works great.
Also Wermey uses USB cable for all of his USB connections.
I haven't gotten to the wiring part of my project yet though, so I'm not 100% certain.
