Headphone detection?

Post by 1461748123 » Sun May 15, 2016 3:57 am

Hello guys!
Since I've successfully got audio from my pi zero, I'm working on wiring all the things up.

Is there any way to detect if the headphone is plug in so I can turn off the speaker?

I'm thinking of ideas in my thread but it depends what kit you're using. USB card? direct from pi? what amp?

Do you really need to "detect" if a earphone is plugged? Or you just want to cut the circuit from the speaker so that audio is transferred to the earphone? If so, search for earphone jack with disconnect feature. Not sure if the original GB jack is like this as I haven't tried it yet.

Take a look at this instructables discussion.

I was able to modify the GB jack to cut power to the speaker w/ headphone connected. Alternatively like chiz said, just get a disconnect headphone jack which are relatively cheap.
