Can't Get Screen To Work. Help?

So I'm working on my first project and this is my 3rd screen now due to damaging the others. I believe I finally have it wired right and it's reading 5v on the raspberry pi and the screens board.

Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

So have you tested this yet? Looks right.

What about the ribbon cable? Is it properly in the socket? Did the screen work before the 5V mod?

Maybe im missing something here, but does the yellow cable not go to the pin left of where you've soldered it?

If i'm correct, you have the same screen as me - the BW variant 7 - and that's how i've wired mine, i.e. same as in Wermy's guide (see image).

Also, double check your wiring on the 5v/ground as my screen didn't work when i tested it once, and the connection wasn't great on my RPi soldering.

Yeah I tried it out but the screen stayed black

I made sure to be extra careful with the ribbon cable because that's how I broke the last screens. I'll try again later and male sure it's in there really good, but it seemed like it was. Also I'm not really sure how I'd test it before the 5v mod.

I had both yellow and white solder3d before, but someone here told me I only needed one soldered so I just did the AV1 to TV on the raspberry pi.

It could be just a shitty soldering job, I'll check that later. I have soldered to those test points a bunch so maybe I burnt the pi?

So I've tried everything I can think of and it's still not working. Anyone out there that could help me out here?

Not that it probably should matter, but a few gave mentioned to me re not powering the screen off the pi. Do you have a powerstrip? Worth a try

I ended up testing the screen with an old DVD player and the picture came through. I think I just burnt the pins on the raspberry pi, so I ordered a new one.

What, the power pins on Pi? pp1 pp6? If you did, you can still use the Pi, don't just throw it away...

The white wire (AV1 I suppose) is plugged into the gnd of your pi? It seems to me that just plug the yellow (AV2) on the TV slot on the pi.

sorry for my poor English
