I thought maybe somehow incorporating the cartridge slot into a removable battery spot would be very slick and allow for these buttons to be used.

First off I want to thank Kapakai for his AWSOME design! I had one of these printed and shipped to me for my 1st GBZ build. Upon receiving it I started planning how to mount the tactile switches behind the buttons. I had some double sided PCB board laying around that I tried to use to mount them to but, no matter what I did, I couldn't get the buttons to sit level and stay level. Being the perfectionist that I am, this really bothered me. So my solution to this was to replace the buttons! I found these on ebay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/190711742956?_t ... EBIDX%3AIT) and decided to try them. I had to hack the holes up a little bit to get them to fit but, man is it really turning out nice for me! I will add pictures in a few days when I put the finishing touches on it. I needed to make some custom cover plates for around the buttons to hide my hack job. If one of you guys with a 3D printer and the skills to design these things could help us out, it would be great to have these already made for these buttons. Maybe have the face of the tactile switch itself sit flat on the backside of the button housing and have raised sections where the current screw holes are that match the height of the tactile switch body. That way the PCB board will sit flat across the tactile switch and the button housing without the need to shim anything. It can then be securely fastened with screws. What do you guys think?

How did you mount the buttons internally? I'd really like to see that!

hey, any1 tried to cut the GB case/shell in the back so that if we cut like a square piece but without 1 side we have a solid piece of plastick on case and make it like "spring case" and a switch behind?

So how did it come out?

Here's the pictures. It really turned out great. I trimmed the inside out with some thin aluminum and stamped the button identifications in to the aluminum. Now we just need a 3D printed version to make this a lot cleaner and easier. Notice how I had to beef up the areas around the screw holes. The ABS wanted to split and did in a few spots when I put the screws in. I just used some epoxy and it did the trick.
