Carry case for GBZ?

Post by Chrisagu28 » Sat May 06, 2017 4:55 pm

Hey everybody.

So I was considering ideas for my build while I wait for kites AIO to be built and sent to me. Something dawned on me, how would you protect the gbz when traveling? I know the game boy in original form is a tank and isn't crammed full of electronics. lol

I am in the military and travel quite a bit. Hence why I am so excited to build my gbz. Sometimes I don't have access to internet or tv for months. I also wanna protect my investment after it's finished.

I was either considering the original Nintendo soft case with shoulder strap or a amazon basics generic hard case.

What do you guys do for travel besides toss it in a bag or pocket?

I use these, they fit perfectly. Even a bit of room for a micro USB charger cable etc.

Even cheaper if you can wait for China mail.

Man. Crazy stuff because I got curious and put my gameboy in the nintendo 3ds case I own and it was like a perfect fit. Gotta have to order one of these and just cut out the game holder. Thanks for the info. I attached some pics so people can see the fitment.

If I recall I got mine at Best Buy.

Haha Excellent. Yeah its fits nicely! Agree you can cut out the game holder. I probably will and jusy leave the net insert for the cable.

I think I got an unofficial black one from China for about a fiver.

I know with mine it's a tight and snug fit but I can't shove the cable in there with it. Any chance you can shoot me a pic of yours in the case with cable. Curious how much bigger it is over mine. I dunno if I wanna pick up a second case or go with the one you recommended.

Thanks for the help. I hope someone finds this info useful

I cut the old 3DS game holder out which frees up a nice bit of space. See pics below:

Ordered two for both builds... This weekend the first real test run with both builds: 3 hours of driving car: both kids were happy of playing gameboy... And they discovered some discrepancies in configuration which will be solved now...

I don't know if anybody else experienced this, but I bought one of these for the 3DS I gave to my girlfriend and when it arrive it REEKED!. The smell was so bad and intense; I figure something went wrong or unfinished in the compression molded foam. Scrubbed it with every cleanser in my house and left it to ventilate for a couple days before the smell dissipated.

They do fit very well, just giving a heads up that you may have a stinky situation :D
