Interested in a music player in ES?

Post by Hex » Wed May 10, 2017 2:45 pm

Hey guys I am currently working on implementing a simple Music player built into EmulationStation. Would you be interested in testing it out?

Features to aim for:
[*] Pause and continue music based on gameplay.
[*] All music controls easily accessible
[*] Network based controls to control playback from other devices and not just the Pi

I need a few volunteers for beta testing before I release a build to the community. Comment bellow if interested and I will PM you the links.

This is a great idea! I'd be up for testing.

It would be really cool if you could tap into the USB rom syncing service in retropie so you could plop your mp3s in a folder on a thumb drive to sync them. :)

I can provide UI access for the copy command. This will be more efficient. Currently I am working on pause/continue support so playback can be paused when emulator is launched

If it can play the actual music from games like for example the SNES .spc format or the Genesis/Megadrive .vgm that would be a plus.

Great site for the files :
https://www.zophar.net/music

The NES game Bionic Commando is one awesome soundtrack in case anyone never heard it, and the game is great as hell too.

VLC plays those files but ffmpeg / avconv errors out

If you want it i can easily modify the source for it to use vlc backend
