Post by Royalhighness » Fri May 19, 2017 9:01 am

Hello,

I found this screen on Ali express and thought I should share it.
It was delivered in just 9 days and it runs off 5 volts.
the price at the time was €17,- now it is €18.27 or $20,-

I wonder if all of the boards will be the same in all of the screens. Like all the other ones seem to have variants for some reason. Anyone else bought this one?

Yes, because it is.
I bought my first screen at gearbest and it is an exact copy.

@brandonmel any photos of your screen and wiring etc? The screen in this thread shouldn't need a mod to run on 5V, or at least myself and some others have not had to mod it.

Seems like gearbest (or whereever you order from) has had 2 different versions of this screens though. The first one I ordered required a mod, like the one in the links above, while the second did not. See photo's below of my 2 screen types. I would try to power it with 12V to see if it runs with that. You might just have a dead screen.

Type 2 - no modShow

@rodocop I have type 2 and it haven't worked for me without modification. And, unfortunately, I also damaged the board trying to modify it, so... must wait for new one :)
And, I can see that you tried to solder the wire to 3v3 pin in the middle of the board. Did the screen work after that?
