Pi Zero availability

Post by shesaysidontlisten » Fri Sep 15, 2017 1:26 pm

Where is everyone getting their Pi Zeros? I got one on the way from Canafruit, but everywhere else seems out unless you want a starter kit with a bunch of things I don't need. Amazon is about 15 or 20 shipped (which is about what I paid). I would like to pick up a few for if/when I screw up, but maybe that's unrealistic since I'm late to the party. I wanted to bundle shipping, but that doesn't help me on Amazon.

The policy of The Raspberry foundation is not allowing people to buy more than one unit per order...
The Pi Hut is based in UK and they have Pi Zero W in stock for 9£

Sorry, should have said I was stateside.

I wonder if it cheaper to get a W even though I don't plan to use the WiFi at all.

I didn't realize that was a policy, but considering that I guess the idea of pooling shipping costs is a no-go.

The W option is not useless as you can access the command line easily for upgrades, configuration...

The Pi policy is to avoid people from spoiling stocks from official retailers and making profit by rising the price by reselling the units..
Which in my own opinion a very good thing.

Do you have a microcenter near you? That's where I get mine. 1 at a time though otherwise the price goes up.

Nope, I wish. I'm in WA and no luck. I'll have to make friends with someone local to them!

I buy all of mine from the pi hut, actually just had one delivered yesterday. works out to be about 23-25 CAD, but I really have no other options in Canada.

I'm lucky being in the UK, there are a couple of sellers here, although they both ship abroad

https://shop.pimoroni.com/products/raspberry-pi-zero-w

https://thepihut.com/products/raspberry ... 0332705425

Might be worth seeing how much they charge.

Also adafruit normally have some, if you need to order other bits.

The W is handy. Adds a layer of flexibility

I get mine from adafruit and they're 10 dollars and currently in stock. They ship out of New York which is good because I live in New York so I usually get it in two days sometimes even the next day. They're really good about processing orders.

Although I just realized that's the W.
