Wire gauge size

Post by callumsmith1989 » Mon Jun 06, 2016 9:22 pm

Hi,

I am wondering what wire size is appropriate to use for the GBZ?

Regards,
Callum

It seems 26 AWG is recommended for buttons/switches, while a higher (22-18 AWG) gauge is recommended for the charging/peripheral USBs.

Thanks for the reply mate.

Where abouts is everyone getting there cable? I am hoping to source some different coloured cable so I can identify them easily.

Thanks,
Callum

Hi,

either look in the wiki for different shops or just use ethernet cables, they are already colour coded.

Brilliant! I'm going to order a 3 ft ethernet cable for the switches since there are 8 wires and 24 feet should be more than enough. Thanks for that suggestion.

Where would you suggest I get a foot or so of 18 to 22 AWG wire for the powered sections? I have ordered 90% of what I need for my project and all that is left is to get are the tactile switches and spare wiring!

If you could recommend a source for the switches and powered wires I'd appreciate it. I have $7 left to spend within my budget. The adafruit prices on the switches are great but that 9.50$ minimum shipping is a no-go.

I have no idea where you reside, so just check out the different shops for your country and look for the best price/shipping cost for you.
Those are my recommended sites, since i put them into the wiki, at least most of them.
