Case with no button holes

Post by Norantio » Fri Feb 09, 2018 2:47 pm

Hello All,

Long time lurker, first time poster. I've been searching posts, looking for anyone that sells/might have some info on getting a Game Boy case without any of the button holes on the front cover. (ie: no d-pad, A and B buttons). I would like to add joysticks at the top, move the buttons down a bit, make room for A,B, and all the c buttons to look a bit like a N64 controller.

Welcome!

That specialty of a case is going to be tough if not impossible to find. There is a very good 3d Cad model of a gameboy case in this forum if you have a 3d printer that you could probably easily make all those modification to and have printed.

Another option (slightly on the harder side, I would bet, but certainly doable) would be to fill in the button area/holes of a GB case with plastic welder or another type of plastic epoxy. Would probably require a bit of sanding/dremeling/customizing and would also necessitate a custom paint job. I've done similar work with plastic before, it isn't too hard but can be time consuming. Here's an example of similar techniques (turning a Nintendo DS into a "Game Boy Macro" by removing the top screen portion) Should be a fair amount of info online regarding custom controllers/case mods/etc if you wanted to go this route
