Crap, now I really feel ...

That is how I was making PCB's 20 years ago (except I used the UV light instead of the laminator)... I got really tired of the mess and getting rid of the old Ferric Chloride... My garage floor had brown stains all over it.... Now people see this an think "Wow that is new and cool..."

I was so happy when the over seas proto-type PCB places came around.

I was using that technique at school between ‘90 and ‘93,

I did etching at uni in the mid 90's

cheap china fab's are where it's at now! ;)
