Raspberry pi 3 build?

I just finished my first GBZ build a few weeks ago and I LOVE it!
But now that I've gotten a taste I want more.
I'd love to make a build using a raspberry pi 3 but I am concerned about the size of the 3 and I'd prefer not to chop up the gameboy shell too much. I'd love to get my hands on Kite's Circuit Sword but as far as I can find preorders are closed.
Can anyone point me in the right direction to learn more about creating a build with a pi3?

I've never done a pi3 build, but people typically desolder everything from the board (USB, ethernet, HDMI, camera, Micro usb, etc...). Here is a good place to start...I've always avoided pi3 builds since I wasn't confident enough to totally strip the pi...Other than stripping and possibly cutting the pi, everything else should be very similar to a Pi Zero build.

Ok, that does sound a little more complex than I might be capable of handling.
Is Kite's Circuit Sword the only way to get the pi3 compute module to work inside a build?

As far as I know, yes. Besides the freeplay cm3 which is in a GBA
You just missed the last preorder -.-

At the moment it is (other than the freeplay CM3 like stated above). Unless someone is designing another AIO with a CM3 connector you'll have to wait for kites next batch.

I just completed a pi3 build with very minimal case modification. However, pi3 was modified quite a bit.
See link in my signature.
Tinkeryboy placed his pi3 in a completely different location, allowing less modification to the pi itself.

Also, Sota's build was documented very well and was featured as a community spotlight.

There is a lot of thought and planning involved with a pi3 build but u gotta commit and take a shot at it once u develop a good plan.
Fyi, heat is an issue with the pi3. Passive cooling will get things working ok but active cooling can really add quality/performance/reliability to the build. 3d printed ducts, fans sizes/types, component placement all present options and challenges here. I don't think anyone has mastered it yet, so get creative and share what u find if u decide to pursue it.

Thanks for the advice. I am gathering parts to make my second GBZ and once I'm finished i plan on attempting GB3. I'm sure once I do I'll have lots of questions.
