Audio Amp - Strange power issue

I have the following amp:

If I connect the amp to my breadboard, which is powered from USB, my Pi0 simply refuses to turn on. Even without the input and output being connected to anything, just the amp's power.

Could this be a faulty module? I have a spare to try, but this is baffling me.

It maybe taking too much power from the Pi0, try using the Powerboost to power it, also make sure the power and ground are wired correctly since if there is a short the Pi won't turn on.

It's not powered from the Pi0, both are powered through my breadboard which is connected to my PC. I've tried a better 5v source as well.

I have seen people on here use the same amp, maybe looking for their install guide will help and on that link you bought it from it says this:

Note:

First turn OFF and then powered speakers , or likely to cause damage to the chip;
Because digital volume control module has a great gain , so do not let too much leaving the audio signal input signal cut limiter.

Hopefully this isn't what happened.

Yea, I spotted that. I guess there's a reason it's so cheap. I have a spare, but if these are so easy to damage I'll just ditch them.

I'm using the same amplifier chip so not sure they are bad but try wiring to the GB speaker since that isn't powered.

Well the Pi works and outputs audio through headphones. Small headphones are quite loud without the amp. I'll keep trying.

Hi Camble, i used this amp, too and it worked for me.
But i fed it (GND and +) from a little distribution board coming form the powerboost.
